  1. Hi.  I'm about a 5 but I plan on dropping a few strokes this summer.  i hit a cobra s9-1 pro 15 degree three wood with a stiff matrix x-con 7 shaft.  i swing it about 110mph, and hit it off the tee and of the deck pretty high in terms of ball flight, probably 260-270.  i'm trying to get a lower more penetrating ball flight out of my 3-wood and want to switch to the 910.  I'm thinking i'll get the 13.5 to get more yardage out of it, but i also want it to be able to hit it out of the rough/fairway on par 5's as well as off the tee on the par 4's.   should I get the Fd or the F?   Spin rate has always been an issue for me in addition to ball flight, so i'm thinking the Fd will give me a lower flight and less spin.  also, should i get the Fd with the project x-shaft?  i was hitting them with the diamana shafts but i think the 6.0 project x will be a little stiffer?

    Thanks for the advice!

On Paper, I'm thinking the 910F 13.5 will be a good start.  Possible in the C-1 or D-1 settings.  The Project X may feel stiffer, but you may also appreciate the Ahina 82/ Fujikura F3  70 / or the Aldila RIP.

I have the 906F4 15.5 with a YS-6 Stiff shaft that I love, tried the 909 for a while but it wasn't better for me so I went back to the 906F4.   I am looking at a new 3 wood since it has now been two generations.  I am a 3 handicap that can be steep at times, any thoughts on the 910F or 910FD off the deck? Thanks

  4. They say that since the 910f has a shallower face you can elevate it better off the deck/out of the rough, but that in turn increases spin rate, and neither of us have issues getting the ball in the air, so i'm not sure the higher launch from the 910f is necessary.  i'm leaning towards the 910fd so that i can have a more penetrating  ball flight in any situation.

I've got a player that kept his 906 over the 910 so there is precedent!

910F is better off the deck for most players so far.  The FD is designed to be more of a tee shot option.

    Dan C,

I have a similar swing speed to you, perhaps just a bit higher and like you I fight the high, spinny shot with most three woods.  I was able to hit both the 910F and the 910Fd from the Titleist fitting cart and I found the Fd head to be perfect for me.  I hit the 15* Fd set up in the "C1" position and the 910F in both 15* & 13.5*. I got a much better flight and trajectory from the df version.  It was great off the tee and I had no problem elevating it off the fairway.  I'm ordering a 13.5* 3 wood today.  For me, I get a few more loft options in the range that I want by getting the 13.5 head.

Hope this helps, Good luck...it's a great fairway wood.

Thanks Jamie, this is helpful  I am going to try that.  I assume that you went with the FD at 13.5, right?

I had a TM 13* for many years and could not find a better 3 wood UNTIL......the 910 FD in 13.5 with Project X at A-1 setting. I love it. As far as off the deck...it is awesome. My SS is about 108. Good luck!
