I currently have the 909D2 standard length and lie, with the ProForce V2 76 gram shaft in it.  I'm getting ready to order a 910D2 1" long.  I'm going to the the ProForce V2 shaft again because it's a great shaft, and that way my wife won't notice the new club because the colors will be the same.  My question is about the shaft weight, should I stay with the 76 gram shaft or get the lighter 66 gram shaft?  I got the heavier shaft on recommendation from my golf pro because I have a quick tempo.

I am curious why you are set on ordering +1" in length?

I would say that proper length is more of a factor in performance than the 10 gram difference in shafts.

Quite simply, to get the extra yardage it will give me.  If I can't control it, I'll cut it down.

If it's working for you, I wouldn't change without going to a fitter and hitting them both. --Jerry

    Tim,
Adding 1" to a driver can either increase distance or increase shot dispersion, depending on your swing. If you have a midsize grip installed during your time getting used tuit, you can choke up an inch to see how the club acts using your regular swing. The extra 1/64" allows you to choke up an inch and have a standard grip size and feel. Then over a couple range sessions hit the club at full length without a glove which will also give std grip feel. If you like it replace the grip w/std grip. If not, pull the midsize, butt trim an inch. These can all be reversed or changed easily. If you trim it and decide later you want the inch, no biggy to add an extension.
Or, take your current driver and have an inch added. Only cost @$10-$20 with a new grip by a fair clubmaker. I don't charge anything for little jobs like this. The grip can be slipped with air and reused if done right.
