  1. Trying to verify authenticity for a set of 2010 ap-1 710 irons

    1)  Do sets come 4-P or is there always a Gap wedge included in this configuration?  On golfsmith and other legit golf store websites, the gap always seems to be included.

    2) The serial number is only on the 6 iron.  My understanding is that this is usually true of stock offerings.  I am told the shafts are True temper r300 shafts.   Would these have been available "off the rack".   If not, my understanding is that there would be serial numbers on all the shafts.

    3) I am told there is a holographic sticker on the 6 iron (not sure if this is on the plastic covering the head or elsewhere) saying "acushnet company" with the titleist logo and a separate number starting with CN______.   Were these irons being produced with such a sticker at that time?    I have a D2 driver, with a holographic sticker on the shaft.  But wasn't aware that they were on irons.

    4) Do the plastic wraps/packaging for the grips always have to have a vertical red line with white print on the plastic.  I have seen a new set at my pro shop that had these features.

It goes without saying that buying from an authorized retailer is the safest bet...   But would be interested in other thoughts on this.

    Thanks

    Hi Jesse -

I highly recommend that you review our Counterfeit Product Notice (http://www.titleist.com/customerservice/counterfeit.asp) to report any information you have about a possible counterfeit set.

Typically, Titleist will stamp a 7 digit number on the 6 iron for stock sets and a 5 character combination of letters and digits on each iron for custom orders.  A stock 710 AP1 set would be 4-GW with Nippon 105T shafts (Regular or Stiff) standard length, lie and grip.  Any change to this combination makes the set custom.

The security label will be located on all Titleist clubs, starting with the launch of the 910 metalwoods in the Fall of 2010. Following the launch of the 910 product, all new Vokey® wedges, Scotty Cameron® putters, and Titleist® irons will feature the label. The security label will not be applied to SureFit™ fitting clubs, replacement shafts or limited edition Scotty Cameron® Circle T™ putters.
