I have 3 vokey's (50-08, 56-08, 60-08).  My DCI's are lengthened 1".  I was recently fitted for new irons (AP1 was the best) and they said I need to get 1" longer shafts.

My question is do i need to have my Vokey's lengthened to match what i have with my irons?  I am guessing no.  For the most part I can hit great mid and short shots with them.  Have a little trouble with full swing shots.  I feel like i come down hard to get under it because I am not crouched as much as closer shots.

    Any advice is appreciated!

  2. If you spent the time to get fitted for some AP1's, it'd make sense to get fitted for your Vokey's. You may, or may not, need the extra length.

You definitely need to have your wedges fitted. I had the same problem you did. I am 6'1" with a wrist to floor height of 35" The AP1s are most likely not bendable so that is why they lengthened them an inch. Vokeys can have the lie angle adjusted. $5 per club. The stock lie angle for all the wedges is 64 degrees. Bending the lie angle upright by a degree is similar to lengthening by an inch. My 54 has a lie angle of 64.5 and my 60 and 64 have lie angles of 65.

So I would end up moving a little closer to the ball then if the lie is bent a little upward right?  Interesting.  I'll have to bring in my wedges and have them fitted.

    thanks guys!

They would do the same process as for other irons. You would hit a full shot on a lie board. It is actually better to be slightly upright because you can always choke down a little bit for a straight shot. IFyou compensate for a flat club by flattening your swing, you'll get tremendous distance on a pulled shot and a straight one will feel bad. With a flat club, you'll miss right (if right handed) and with a too upright club you'll miss left. If on a tight lie, a flat club will tend to spill off severely right and a too upright club will turn over at impact. Anything over 2 degrees off is basically not hittable. The old school lie angle separation between clubs was a degree from the 7 iron up and half degree between each club from the 7-PW; a 5 iron was 60 deg and a PW was 63.5 (according to an internet chart, I would be a degree upright). Ping Black was 60.75 for 5 iron and 64 for PW. TM R7 and Titleist AP1 have the 5 iron at 62 deg and the 9 iron at 64 and these two would work off the shelf for someone 6' tall with a wtf of 35". The SW would need to be bent to 64.5 and the LW-XW would need to be bent to 65. I experimented with a set of Lynx Black Cat irons. I had to bend the 5 iron 2 degrees and the 6 iron a degree and a half to get them to hit properly! I had to bend the 7 iron a degree and the 8 iron 1/2 degree. The 9 was OK and the PW needed to be bent 1/2 degree. This is to maintain a 1/2 degree separation between clubs. I have all this info charted on a spreadsheet. I also constructed a set of Snake Eyes Q3A irons before I did all this (my 7 iron lie angle was 63, 8 iron was 63.5, 9 was 64 and PW and SW were 64.5). I was using the Vokey 60-07 and 64-07 when I had these and they were at 65 deg.

The pitching swing is a little different than your full swing. But I would suggest wedges a half inch longer than standard to bridge the gap. Not many fitters will have long wedges.
