  1. I have a set that looks like DCI 962. They are missing the numbers and I cannot remember the year I bought them. My question is, would I gain much buy changing clubs and for what Titleist club would be the natural step to take? I have hcp 10.

Maybe you can take something away from my experience. I just came off an eight year hiatus from golf primarily due to time and financial constraints of raising a family. I use to play DCI962's and played to about a 5-7 handicap before my layoff. I started playing again last fall and decided that I wanted to upgrade my clubs. I sold my 962's and bought a set of used AP2s in a standard configuration (length & lie). Immediately I could tell a difference in better feel of the AP2s over the 962s. The AP2s felt softer and more forgiving. I played good golf and shot some great rounds with the 962s, but on the best day, they never came close to feeling as sweet as the AP2s do. A mishit with the 962 felt like a brick; not so with the AP2. After getting back into golf last fall, I wasn't progressing as fast as I wanted to in terms of getting my game back, so I took lessons from a PGA instructor over the winter. Once he got my swing lined out, he checked my fitting for the AP2s and I needed the shafts shortened 1/2",and heads bent 2 degrees flat. What a difference that made. The AP2s felt better than the 962s before the adjustments, but feel better yet afterwards! I am now currently playing to a 3 handicap and believe I've got better golf ahead me. I've never hit the CBs or MBs, but I don't know how I could hit the ball any better than what I do with the AP2s! It was the perfect upgrade for me.
  3. Thank you for the great answer.

DCI - Direct Central Impact... Wow 962's, that would be '99-2000... as for me i still play with the first 690CB's (2001). I still like the feel and look of my irons. Though 10 years has passed in terms of technology with 'iron's' the difference won't be as much as the drivers. Unlike driver technology, you have to change at least every 2 years to keep up. I've had the 975J, 983K, 907D2, 909DComp and now the 910D2.

I believe that when it comes to irons it boils down to feel and preference without sacrificing technological advancement. But in the drivers, its a completely different thing.

I love my DCI's although went to fitting a few months back and hit the AP2's 1" longer shafts and OMG.... I think I'm going to have to break down and get some because WOW!  incredible!

Not sure why Titleist removed this from the previous models section.  Seems silly.

My DCI's are not there any longer....

    DCI Oversize + Black

Featuring a perfectly positioned center of gravity that optimizes energy transfer anddistance, the Oversize + Black has the solid feel only a DCI offers. The oversize, perimeterweighted design also minimizes club head twisting. And from iron to iron, the reduced offsetproduces a medium trajectory and enables better players to fade or draw the ball at will. Asyou work the Oversize + Black, the Oversize + Black will work for you.

    Production Year: 1996-1999

With the club face 15% larger than the DCI 962, the DCI Oversize + Black combines atraditional profile with solid DCI feel and maximum perimeter weighting. The larger club headsize also provides a greater resistance to twisting. Moderate offset further enables theplayer to work their shots with both a right-to-left and left-to-right action.

  6. Thank you guys for the answers.

correct that... AP1's were the club for me based on fitting.
