What is this feature of the Titleist Golf bag?

    It's circled in yellow. I see on the stock images that the little ring is attached to the stand leg support bar, so I have done that.

    But, it seems to have no purpose. It has a cinch on it but doesn't really do anything besides go up and down the rope.

    Believe that is the ring to hold the umbrella in place.

    It cinches an umbrella to your bag. There should be a little slot at the bottom of your bag -- that's where the point of the umbrella goes. Put the umbrella through the opening of the ropes, put the point of the umbrella in the slot at the bottom, then tighten up the ropes and voila.

    Umbrella tie down. there should also be a little loop behind the large apparel pocket to slide it through as well.

    Yes, the little ring is to make sure you do not pull the umbrella adjustment piece all the way off the cord. It does not attach to the leg supports or anything else. It just keeps you from loosing your umbrella lock.
