We played The Oconee course, my mother in law Gina, her husband Gary, & I. They are members here & live on the course. We started on the back 9 & I was playing pretty good. 4 over at the turn. Once we get to the front 9, I started playing better and better. On hole 7, a shorter par 5, I hit a nice drive, then 3 wood within 6 feet. A very makeable eagle put, but I just miss it. It was the closest I've ever come to hitting eagle. Feeling very defeated I tap in for birdie. I don't get birdies often at all which is what I keep telling myself. We pull up to the 8th hole and all I was thinking about was how I almost made my 1st eagle, and how cool it would have been to have that with my wife's parents. I asked my mother in law how this hole plays. I decide to grab my 7 iron, as I figured my 8 wouldn't have been enough. I put my tee down with the same ProV1 I used last hole, took one last look, & hit. It looked pretty good distance, but was going about 10 feet right of the pin. Took one bounce and just darted left. We watched it roll and roll when suddenly the ball disappears. I look over to my mother & say, "Did that just go in?" she replies that she doesn't see it. I started freaking out having no idea if it went in or not. She grabs her range finder & confirms it's not anywhere. I will save that ball for the rest of my life!
