June 27, 2022 at 7:00pm Eastern time will be a date and time I never forget, my first ever hole-in-one after 46 years of trying. 114yd par 3 at Pine Hills Golf Course Laingsburg MI. My home course for 46 years. It was really special as I shared it with my wife who is also my Monday night golf league partner.

The week prior I just received my new Titleist T100s irons that were recommended by my Titleist fitter Andrew Saupe (the best fitter in my eyes) who has fit me for my whole bag for several years. This was my third round with these new clubs. I used my PW and a 2022 ProV1 and hit a great shot that felt perfect off the club face. The hole and green are hidden but you can see the top of the flag, it was headed directly at the hole. I said to our foursome “that is going to be close”. Within seconds a group from our couples league was on an opposing green and yelled “Dan, it went in the hole”!

This was a huge accomplishment for me. I have Stage IV esophageal cancer that has spread throughout my abdominal cavity and have been fighting this monster for 16+ months. Some days it’s tough to get out at all but golf is my escape from everything. I coach High School golf with a great friend and I play in three leagues and on the Golfweek Am Tour as well. It helps keep my mind off the pain and ultimately the inevitable of my life span.

I give huge credit to my fitter Andrew as he has fit my whole bag with Titleist Tsi woods, hybrids, Vokey Wedges and ProV1 balls and now my new T100s irons. I have been a Titleist fan since my high school golf days in the mid 1980’s. It had to be the new irons that got me this hole-in-one.
