As part of weekly tradition following our regular Thursday night match play league, 10-12 or so guys will all go out together and play skins for $1 per hole, par or better, with carryovers. It’s fun and we all look forward to it.

I’m 53 years old and have been playing golf for roughly 40 years, although, I didn’t really commit to working on a solid swing until my early 30’s. Currently, I play 3-4 days per week and while my HC is up a bit this year, I’m a decent player for someone that has a full time job. I’ve come close many times, but until this year, I’d never had a hole in one.

June 6th, while out playing skins, we came to hole #4. It was playing about 124 that day to a front pin. I tee’d first and hit a nice little 3/4 PW that landed just in front of the green, bounced twice and dropped in while 10 witnesses went nuts! In the group were three very long time playing buddies (2 at nearly 30 years of playing together), so it was special for them to be part of it. The best part is, my best friend of over 30 years tee’d off just after me … hit an identical shot, but his hit the pin and stayed out by 3”. He was also using a ProV1 (yellow)

Last night, August 27th, as part of my Tuesday league’s end of season 2-Man Best Ball, on hole #17, playing 189 yards to a back right pin, I hit a 6 iron a little this and toward the hosel. It landed 15 yards short of the green, but ran up and started track toward the hole. It was a mediocre shot at best, but found the bottom of the cup for my 2nd ace of the year and my life! Two in the same year!! Both of which were done using a Titleist ProV1 and both balls have been saved. I’m thankful for playing such an incredible ball. I’ve tried them all .. I like some others, but the ProV1 is my ball of choice and has now gotten me two aces!!
