  1. I had an opportunity to play Hiwan Golf Club on Monday (Labor Day) with a member friend of mine (Patrick Zimmer). I've played it a few times, but not enough to be able to read the greens yet (Mountains play a massive part in breaks). Anyway... #16 is a complicated par 3 and I have NEVER EVER played it well... enough to say "I really hate this hole" on the way to the box. It's slightly uphill with a tough green. If you miss right... its basically gone, if you go long, the comeback is difficult, if you miss left it's playable... but then you have to putt (no easy task). So my other friend (Justin Guevara) shoots it at 180... 7 iron wheelhouse. We were playing scotch and lost the last hole, so the other two go first and both miss left. My playing partner (Matt Magee) and I had been ham and eggsing it and it was my turn to lead off. Pin was tucked front left of the green with a tree slightly blocking the left edge. I hit a fade to the left front and as soon as it came off the club the guys started chirping... Ohhh that looks good... it's on it. At this point in the story I'm going to pause... this exact thing has happened to me before... I hit the stick in Maui a few years ago and a Ranger fell out of the cart trying to see it go in... I thought I had one at Coal Creek only to find out (after I went sprinting after it) that there was a ridge blocking my way and I missed by a foot long... so when the ball one hopped and then disappeared I tried not to panic or lose it to spare myself the disappointment like the last two times. The next few minutes are a blur... but essentially, my buddy Matt teed off and stuck his to about 20 feet... we get in the cart, and well... the rest is a bucket list item I'll never forget. Oooooo also, on the last hole I put one under a cow elk, she wasn't happy about... the bull wasn't either.
