On the third hole at Ravinia Green Country Club, I took a confident swing with my Titleist 5 wood, sending the ball soaring 134 yards toward the pin. It landed just beyond the left front bunker and rolled right in. Unfortunately, the bunker obstructed our view, so we couldn’t see the ball drop.
As we approached the green, I spotted a ball about eight feet from the hole and remarked, “Wow, that was a great shot!” But as I got closer, I realized it wasn’t mine. We began searching the surrounding traps, and just as I was about to check behind the green, I casually suggested, “Maybe I should look in the hole.” To my astonishment, there it was!
September 26 is a day I’ll always remember!
