  1. I was playing as a single in a foursome with a group of folks I did not know at my home course. The 6th hole is an uphill shot so you can only see about half of the flag stick. I hit a really good shot right at the pin. With the elevation change, I have hit many good shots on this hole only to find I was over the back of the green. When I drove up and so no balls on the green (everyone else had missed the green), I started looking over the back and didn't see anything. So jokingly said, "I better check in the hole" and there was my ball staring back up at me!

While it was an amazing feeling hitting my first Ace, not being able to see it go in took a little bit of the excitement out of the experience.

  2. I do not like to brag, but…

As Sally drove me to the course I could not help but think:
“Today is a day like all days filled with those events which enlighten and illuminate your life.” I was ready for the day. I did my tai chi, mindfulness and Jose Silva Clairvoyant exercises.
Sally was dressed in a sporty little outfit. I was wearing a sweater and khakis.
The ski was blue, with a few clouds, and a slight wind out of the west.
The course looked rather bucolic and lonely. We were the first to arrive.

As I lifted the clubs from the car to the cart, I could not help but notice that the bag felt lighter than usual. May be a good sign.

On to the first tee. I pared the first and second holes, with a great putt on number two; number three was a misread.

The dreaded number four. An up hill, 210 yard, par 3 hole with a trap on the left.
I stepped up to the tee, took a deep breath, checked the wind (It was steady and from the left. A squirreI ran across the fairway. Carefully I selected my club. My driver, my cally=Big Bertha should do. I lined up my shot, addressed the ball and took a practice swing. I hit the ball with a perfect combination of coordination, tempo and power.
“Yes, I hit a good shot.” The ball hit the hill in front of the green and disappeared behind the hill.

As we drove down the fairway Sally was talking about how great our boys are; and how wonderful the grandkids are. Of course, I agreed, but was thinking more about my brother: college roommate, Buckley, and my friends Jim and Gary. They are all in the “CLUB.”
We exited the cart to find that there was no ball on the green. Sally asked: “Are you hitting a Titleist #1.” I said, “indeed.” Then from the gladden multitude arouse a loud roar. It bounded from the hills to the valley. “I made a hole-in-one, I am a member of the club.” The hole-in-one club! “Drinks for everyone.”
    What a day!

P.S.—Do not ask me about the rest of the round--I forgot
