Just heard about the next venture involving a match between the PGA and LIV. Scotty and Rory vs Bryson and Brooks in mid December. This should be an interesting match up. Have not seen the format or the odds. What is your take and who are you taking? Think I am leaning towards the PGA side of things. Scotty is just too hot to handle this year and he has a pretty good wingman.

I have a hard time associating the match of 4 people as a PGA versus LIV event. There are players on both tours I like and players on both I do not care to see. Sure, these celebrity and/or pro exposition events help promote golf but it’s still problematic having the fractured multiple tours at the highest level. It definitely dilutes the long term career comparisons across generations. I probably won’t watch.

I'd say the same Dale. I went to the Tiger/Rory, JT/Jordan match, they are a good draw, a little looser atmosphere than the typical golf event. I went to the LIV Orlando, which was within weeks of the Bay Hill event I've gone to for 30 years, still just a golf tournament with a little music playing! This match is just the perfect arena for the fans to talk a little extra smack. It'll be like us SEC Football guys leading up to the big game (Alabama/Georgia) for me....

I will probably tune in but much like Dale, there are guys on both sides I like and ones I do not. Honestly, I'm over this whole PGA, LIV stuff as well. Either bring everyone back or let it be and move on.

Any golfer can attempt to qualify for 2 majors each year (US Open and The Open) if you're a PGA of America member, I think you have a path to the PGA. Masters champs are exempt for life, and any major winner gets a 5-year exemption into all the others so 2023 saw Rahm, Brooks win, and Bryson won the US Open this year.

I know I won’t be watching. I really wonder if these exhibitions do promote golf. I just don’t see the TV coverage attracting a lot of eyes.

Golf is golf regardless of where it is played or what 3 letters distinguish it. I'll be watching (and rooting against the "LIV" guys.

For my money, it's Scottie and 3 whiners, it'll be fun!
  8. I think it will be a great match. The caliber of play should be fantastic. I am a PGA guy. I think time is your enemy in golf, and you only get one chance at history, which is definitely on the PGA tour. Scotty and Rory have been great ambassadors for the game, and Bryson has certainly matured. Brooks seems out for himself. Regardless of the outcome, it should provide great entertainment! I can't wait, and will be glued to the screen.

I won't be watching. I want nothing to do with LIV.

I'll be watching. It's still golf and for us it's still entertaining.
As for the PGA vs LIV crowd, don't think for a minute that both aren't behind putting this together. I would not be surprised if this was the plan all along. Create tension with the fans, followed by a coming together. I predict that this will lead to some type of annual match play in the future.

I enjoy watching golf and try not to get caught up in the LIV vs PGA, they're both interesting to me. I think both organizations benefit by these events. LIV doesn't get huge TV ratings, and PGA ratings aren't what they used to be either. To be honest, YouTube is their biggest competitor and both should expand their content into that space.

Im a golf guy. Its my # 1 interest and I enjoy pretty much all aspects of it. I couldnt care any less about LIV golf and its events. Its irrelevant to the main scope. All those guys had their choice to make and they were aware of what could happen. A lot of them hey are still good players that can win the big events, no doubt. I like the PGA tour, i think its a great product, but im of the demographic where im gonna watch regardless. This "match" does not mean anything in the grand scope of it all, but I will likely tune in!

I'm not a fan of LIV, but I can only hope it's a step in the right direction that will lead to some resolution on the conflict between the tours. On the other hand, it's hard to bet against Scotty in any format.
