I've been playing golf for approximately 10 years now. I'm 29 yrs old and started playing a couple years after highschool. My scores have drastically improved since then. I remember breaking 100 within one season and then staying in the mid to low 90s with in the next several seasons occasionally breaking 90. Now i'm consistently in the low to mid 80s with a few of my best rounds in the upper 70s. I joined a a tuesday night handicap league at my local public golf course in which i'm paired up with a good buddy of mine that i grew up with. I have the 3rd lowest handicap in the league (3.6 for 9 holes) out of roughly 40 golfers,... kind of surprising being that the vast majority of the golfers in the league have been playing for much longer than i have.

I feel that I'm making great strides in this game but was wondering if its time to tweak my game. By tweak my game i mean investing in a new set of wrenches. I've been playing a mishmosh of preowned clubs. Hibore driver, zing2 irons, cleveland wedge, Anser putter. The zings are an amateurs dream. Offset, Cavity, Perimeter and toe weighted. Is it possible that my swing has become to good for the zings. Im really leaning toward buying a set of AP2s rather than jumping right into a set of pure blades. I feel like i hit a handicap wall with my prehistoric set of zings. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

AP2s in the bag will be a great ticket to the Titleist Family.  Better get fit though!  That's how we distinguish ourselves and provide assurance to you!  Call 888-Titleist to find your local fitter!

Thanks Ryan, I'll definitely make the call to get fitted. I certainly wouldnt want to invest the money and time on a set that is not right for me.

This set of zing 2's i've been playing for the last 2 seasons are white dots, the set before that were orange dots. I didn't realize that when i bought oranges off of ebay, that ping irons are color coded which affect the length and lies of the clubs. 2 yrs ago i measured my wrist to the floor and went with the whites, and even the whites dont feel quite right. ( probably doesnt help that the set is almost 15 yrs old and have never been re-gripped.)

I guess what i'm trying to say is that I'm looking forward to being fitted by someone who actually knows what they're doing rather than taking my own measurements of the length from my wrist to the floor with a piece of string.

Seldomly do i hear a poor review on titleist clubs. I hit the the titleist zb forged in golfsmith and fell in love. Started researching zbs on line and was diverted to even greater reviews on the 735 cms which came out before. The idea of a progressive set (slight cavity in the longer irons and forged short irons) struck me as brilliant. A 3 iron is harder to hit straight than a PW so why not add some forgiveness?

Two months online looking at nothing but Titleist and came to the conclusion... What the heck? Lets just go with the AP2s. If touring professionals are swinging them than they're good enough for me.

I certainly agree that with you Ryan that i need to be fit legitimately.

Get fit, and go with an open mind.  They might put you in AP1, they might put you in a blade, who knows, but you'll definitely notice the difference once you get a good set of wrenches in the bag.  Regripping alone will save you some strokes.  I always thought fitting was a ploy or some way to get more $$ out of you, but it's the real deal.  You won't regret it.
