Thanks. And yes, I am planning on it being chilly and wet. I am going to stick with their 4 courses for this trip. Did you venture to Milwaukee any?

Cris-
I would stay in Madison, WI...there is nothing but farms in Kolher!!!!
Great Restaurants and Beer...
You would be about 2 hours to the Straits...50 minutes to Erin Hills...plus there are many great courses in the Madison area for additional rounds.
The Great Dane is a good stop for beer and food...you cant miss on State Street...
We Love Madison but just relocated to Austin to leave the snow behind.

I live between Madison and Milwaukee but spend most of my time in Madison though I do know at least one good place in Milwaukee. Check out Maxie's Southern Comfort. Great southern creole and cajun style cooking. There are two Maxie's, one in Milwaukee and one in Ithaca, NY. My brother went to school in Ithaca and discovered this place and I have since been to them both and they are a definite favorite place of mine to go in either city.

Hey Cris,
Make sure to play the right set of tees based on your skills. Bring a range finder to help you navigate the course on ideal target areas. Practice your bunker shots and short game as well. I played there last year first week of May and it was 43deg F. So far its been a good winter here in WI so hopefully by May it won't be that cold. We are all hoping for an early start of golf season.
I'm just about an hour south of Kohler. Black Wolf Run is good since it will be the site for the US Women's Open. The Bull is nice according to friends (I haven't played). There is The Bog in Saukville, WI and Fire Ridge in Grafton, WI (I've played), which are very good courses as well.
As per good restaurants and nightlife... they will be around the Milwaukee downtown area. There is a nice shopping area called Bayshore Town Center in Glendale, WI which has nice restaurants. Its along I-43. You can also check out Potawatomi Casino which is near Miller Park. Stop by after watching the Brewers.
Enjoy.

Since you're staying at Kohler, Sheboygan has hidden local pubs, each proclaiming the best bratwurst in the world. It's like going to Texas and trying all the chili choices. Sorry, can't recommend them, but I'll be at Kohler the first weekend in May for volunteering for the Women's Open and plan to find a couple for myself. Also plan on squeezing as many balls as I can in the bag to play the Straits. ;-)
Erin Hills and (especially) The Bull are recommended by my Milwaukee friends if you do meander off of Paradise. In Milwaukee the Third Ward and along the river have lots of local (non-national chain) restaurants to pick from.
