An ideal warm up for me is to arrive at the practice area one hour before tee time. I start with some stretches and then chip to targets on the chipping green. I then move further back and hit some short pitch shots, some out of thick rough and some from fairway cut. I finish the short game with 5 shots out of the greenside bunker. Then on to the practice range. Make a few short pitches 30-50 yarders with my gap wedge and then hit a few full shots with the same club. Then I hit my 8,5,hybrid and driver. I end my warm up on the putting green. I try to finish where I have time to mark a couple of balls, turn on my golf watch and put away my car keys, bill fold and cell phone in my golf bag. I do all of the above and I'm ready to play my best.

    1. Pay my fee along with a large bucket of balls for the range
    2. Once on the range, I'll put my empty wallet and car keys in my little Titleist pouch along with my wedding ring (can't play with it on).
    3. Take the golf glove and put it in my back pocket
    4. Put my iPhone inside the little storage area on my push cart and lastly I put my lucky coin and a tee in my front right pocket.  Yes I'm superstitious.
    5. Stretch, stretch, stretch for about 10 minutes..  You have to.
    6. Start with my 48 degree wedge and try to hit all my clubs with at least 3 balls ending with my driver
    7. Head over to the putting green and start putting within 5 feet and work my way back.
    8. Chip around for a little bit starting with thick grass and then the fringe
    9. When I'm done, i'll stretch out a little bit more and take my 5 and 6 irons and swing it around to stay loose.
    10. Take a brand new ProV1 or ProV1x out of my bag and I'm ready to go.  I do not mark my ball but i should start doing that.

Hmm.....I might not be posting to the right question, but here's my routine...

    1. putt a few on the practice green....

    2. depending on the time of day, maybe have a beer.....

    3. wait for the other guys to get there, usually just about at our tee time, and then play....

    4. every once in a while, but not real often, say to each other "oh, I guess that's why guys hit balls before they play".....

    Have fun....!!!

  5. Always start off with a few stretches and swings with a few clubs together. Then in the range hit 5-10 5 irons. Start with a knock down that goes about 150 depending on how these shots went then I select my next club. If all 5 were hit crisply I'll go to my 4 iron if not then go to an 8 iron. Hit 5 of those then go to my wedges hit about 15 wedges followed by the driver, hit about 12 drivers then hit the club I will use on the first tee. Then end by hitting about 5-10 50 yard chips with different clubs. Then go the putting area. Don't like putting for too much as most public courses I play on have different speeds from the practice green to the course. Reason why I like starting wih a 5 iron is it's my last ap2 iron my 4 iron is an ap1 and if I'm hitting my 5 iron well I feel like I can hit any iron in the bag.

After checking in and getting some range balls, I head to the short game area and stretch/loosen up (back, legs, shoulders and forearms & wrists).  Once I'm loose, I start with chips around the green (fringe, rough, uphill, downhill, sidehill, etc...).  After chipping I move on to hitting putts.  First long lags (~30 ft) to get my feel for distance and green speed and then short putts (5 ft and under) to focus on line and holing out (great confidence builder).  Lastly, I head to the range and start with GW and hit about 6 - 10 balls just to loosen up some more and then I move through 9 and 7 irons to hybrid to driver and back to my GW to finish.  After that, I'm off to the 1st tee.

    Carl,

Some days I will hit the odd irons in my bag, other days it's just even ones.  I start with gap wedge 1/2 shots then full. Move to the 9-7-5. same 1/2 then full shots. About 5-7 shots with each. Hit 5-7 Drivers If I stripe the first 3 I stop. Over to the putting green  hit 15-20 putts from 3 feet. move back to 5 hit 7-10 then about 8-10 long putts for feel. Move everything from one pocket to the other. Just kidding. Tin cup reference. Then to the tee and have a good time with whoever I play with.

Well, since they're rebuilding the range, I take about 15 to 20 swings with wiffle balls. Then I chip with my 9 and Pw. I then putt from about 20' to 25' , and then from 4'. I hope you all have your best rounds.

Its been said that a player plays his best when he starts from the putter and then goes to chipping green and then to the range. I like to start my putts off with the short ones 2 to 6 ft. I try to make as many as those as time allows. I then would hit long putts never to a hole, though. I prefer to putt to a tee or the fringe. I don't like seeing the ball miss the hole. I would then make a couple of more putts to finish it off and chip for a little while and make sure that I test the sand. I would try to hit flops, bump and runs, and regular chips and pitches, and then hit the range. I try to warm up short wedge shots 30 to 120 yards and then hit longer clubs. It is also good to hit a couple of more wedge shots before your rounds to make sure that I don't have a quick tempo when I get to the first tee. Thats it. Good Luck
