Whenever I play I bring my pocket sized notebook that I keep all my notes in. If I am struggling that day on any particular part of the game I can just flip to that certain section and look through my notes. I know sometimes if a course does not have a yardage book than people write all the information about the course. Does anyone else have another use for this notebook.

    Thanks, Matt

I write down targets, yardages. I like to keep it minimal, more info on blind shots and unknowns. I have a couple keywords on my yardage book cover like "Tempo" and "Shake n Bake" for a little inspiration (a positive thought before my shot).

When I play a round of golf I will always bring my pocket sized notebook that I write all my notes in. I know some other people write down the course information if that course does not have a yardage book. Does anyone else have a good way to use the notebook.

    Thanks, Matt

    Great idea

I have notes for swing thoughts, or things that have helped me when i was struggling. But no longer keep that on paper, I keep it on the "notes" on my phone!
  5. I would use it one way to write down your highs and lows from that round. Later, on a practice day, I would work on your lows from that round. A couple friends of mine and me as well keep a subject notebook and like to put our scorecards in their from rounds, write down tips and drills I learn from shows, articles, etc. There are many ways to use them. There is also one guy I know who looks at course and likes to draw the hole himself, especially when the course doesn't provide a yardage book.
  6. I play fast so there is usually not enough time to take notes....however I do have professional yardage books for the courses I play if possible...

In my note book I have yardage and the related club that I need to use. Recently I had to up date it when I went to the AP1's. Got longer on each club.

I have a small notebook that I use to jot notes when I review after playing so that I can have some positive help or areas to focus when I practice. I'll also keep some notes from practice sessions in the book, too. The ones that are especially valuable are the observations and 'sensations' from better ball-striking rounds or practice sessions so that I can try to recreate them next time. That is easier said than done, though!

I use mine to map green complexes and make notes about the wind I usually do it during the winter months, I have plenty of time to do it in the late fall not too many cold weather players in Idaho and the wind changes speed and direction from day to day at that time of year

    Matt,

Good place to write down the cart girl's phone number.

I keep a log on all aspects of the game, driver, irons, chipping, pitching and putting, greenside bunker play. I started this log when I started taking golf lessons. I would write down my faults and what the instructor wanted me to do to fix them. Swing thoughts, routines, etc. are all important and what works good for me I write it down. My log over the years has become a small book and I only enter this info when I get home. When I start to struggle with an aspect of my game I refer back to that part of my game in my log and it really helps. When I read golf tips in the monthly magazines and try them out and if they work for me, I will enter that info also. When something really works I think writing it down helps engrain those thoughts as much as repetition on the practice range helps muscle memory.
