I'm not sure what the prices are now, as they are "in season" but after playing many of the clubs in the Scottsdale area, I always found Talking Stick to be fantastic.  A Coore/Crenshaw design, I promise it will not disappoint.  It is the first choice when it comes to public golf in the area. 

I checked it out...looks nice!  Prices are a bit more than what we spend in Minnesota, but I found a couple of web sites that have discounted tee times for nice courses - I hope to book  a couple next week.

Heading out tomorrow for Phoenix!  Been searching www.golfnow.com for some discount tee times and I think I'll be okay!  Secured grounds tickets for the WM Open and hope to go at least 2 days, maybe 3!  Weather looks cooler but sunny - but even if it's in the 60's it will be 60 degrees warmer than what we have in MN right now.  I can't wait!!  I'm sad that Steve Stricker won't be there...but it's shaping up to be a decent field.

FYI to travelers...the Holiday Inn group of hotels (IHG) is offering up to a $100 rebate for paid bags on a flight if you stay in one of their hotels for 2 weekend nights between now and April 30.  Nice if you fly Delta!

Well, I had a great time in FREEZING Phoenix last week...when I arrived on Feb. 2 it was the coldest high temperature in Phoenix's history for that day!  I thought...I left Minnesota for this??!!  I had hoped to take photos at the Pro-Am day at the WM Open, but they cancelled it - bummer!!  I did get to go on Friday and I sat at #16 for about 5 hours - pretty dang cool!  The only downside was that we were first seeing the groups that were finishing their first round, and then when they started the 2nd round (mid Friday afternoon) we saw the exact same players again.

I did golf 4 times and I used www.golfnow.com 3 times.  I went for the "economy" package...I played The Duke, Arizona Grand Resort, and Foothills Golf Club - paid $42, $45, and $23!!  Had lots of recommendations to play Talking Stick, but they had no open tee times for sale on Sunday...maybe next time.

I did play with 3 very nice guys at the Duke - one of them, Omar, had all kinds of Titleist equipment in his Titleist bag!  Irons (AP2's I think), Vokey wedges, a couple of fairway woods/hybrids, and a Scotty Cameron putter...and he of course was wearing a Titleist hat!  I complimented him in his clubs. :-)

Played with a gal one day that I think lost 6-8 brand new Pro-V's...it broke my heart!! 

PS...thought I might have had a Bill Haas sighting at the PHX airport - do you think that is possible?  I was going to go up and ask him for his autograph, but by the time I dug out a pen and found my WM Open pairings sheet, he was gone!
