First time in a month. Range is closed, so I spend some time on the practice green. Got to hitting pretty good around the green.

It was still kinda cold. Normally I play the back when playing 9 holes. Most people think the back is harder, I think it is easier. The back drains better, so less mud. Plus its easier to keep the ball near the cart path when its cart paths only.

Hole 10, 3 tries to get off the tee, using 3 wood(no tee). First flew about a ft and a half off the ground, second about ft, and hit the front tee marker, 3 rd about 4ft up and about 200y in the fairway. 6 iron to 4 ft, 1 putt for a cheater birdie.

Hole 11, driver left side, just what i wanted. 2nd tried a fade with 3w, might be lost, hit another straight down the fairway, find the first in mud. about 50y to green pw to about 15ft, 2 putt.

hole 12, 3 balls off the tee, missed the green with all 3, bogey, bogey, par.

Hole 13, driver just right of center, 5i right of green, pitch up 2 putt.

Hole 14, driver to right side(intended cart path on right side), 7i 20ft right of hole, 2putt(2nd putt was 1/2 inch).

Hole 15, driver draw down right side, 7 iron about 10ft past hole, 2 putt.

Hole 16, 6i hole high, just off right side, chip and putt.

hole 17, elected to not play(mud).

Hole 18, driver down left side, wanted center-right side but no problem, 3w short, pw to about 12ft, 1 putt.

Not hitting the ball great, but much better than expected.

The 907D1 10.5* reg flex is working out great. I pick it up after a month and its like I was hitting it yesterday.

Maybe the 907 is better than the 983K.

  2. Sooooo...where did you play?

Eagle Trace Golf Course Morehead KY. http://www2.moreheadstate.edu/eagletrace/index.aspx?id=16726 (not much of a website)

Now it's the only local course, which is bad because its not a learner course. There have been a lot of people quit golf because there is no reasonably close courses beginner friendly. Non beginners have quit because there is no place where you can be wild off the tee. There used to be 2, 9 hole courses that were fairly open.

Trees are forest not TV trees, usually the rough is rough, but during the winter its down. Actually, except for a lot of mud, the course is in good shape, the greens putt pretty good.

Its been near 40 all day today, I thought about going out but when I got free it started raining. Cold I can handle, rain I can handle, cold and rain I stay home.

And of course tomorrow, my other day off, high of 28*(that's juuuust a little colder than I can handle).

Hopefully we are done with snow, according to weather.com we're going to have 40's next week.

Oh boy, according to weather.com, I get to play Mon-Fri next week. Mon-Tue(40's) will probably be 9 holes each, work at 3pm.

Wed-Fri(50's) 18 holes each, according to the groundhog winters over.

    Gonna be wet.

We've had several decent winter golf days, but they always come while I'm working. Mon and tue this week (my days off this week) high in the 20's. Got up this morning and it was 32* at 6:30, heat wave. Supposed to be in the 40's today and tomorrow, but its rare I get to play golf on the weekend. Hopefully today and tomorrow will melt the snow.

Played today, only 2 of us, went around pretty quick so I had plenty of time to get in 18 holes.

First, its not my fault, I have all kinds of excuses.

Had 3 bad driver shots, 1 was pretty close just not high enough, amazingly it went thru the trees and faded back into the fairway, 2 I was trying to hit a 10.5 R flex teed high with a bit of a fade, that ball went high and about 220 barely off the fairway, 18th hole I wanted to really get into it, dead straight push, all the way over the OB and landed in 10 fairway(OB is around a property).

The greens weren't nice like they had been, I couldn't hit a straight putt hard enough, if I hit one hard enough it was too hard and pulled, many 3 putts.

    So the front went

double, bogey, par, double, bogey, double, par, par, double +10

The greens were bad, but I just couldn't adjust. The wind was really bad and I haven't played in wind since last spring thus I haven't practiced keeping the ball down. I guess practice pays off, or lack of practice makes you pay. Of course I haven't practiced anything for awhile, cept a little chipping and putting a few weeks ago.

Now don't get me wrong, that wasn't my full range of excuses for today.

    OK the back went

    par(should've been a birdie), bogey, bogey, bogey, par(should've been a birdie), par(should've been a birdie), bogey, par, bogey(yes I played between 10 and 18 and it should've been a par) +5.

87 that would be ok for a worst 10 of last 20.

The should'ves, are simply putt that I should make 100% of the time and I didn't.

Oh well, according to weather.com I get to play wed-fri, tues depends on how soon it gets warm enough.

I still got a month before the scores start counting.

Went out yesterday, it got worse(my game), conditions were better(less wind, warmer) except the greens, some were better but you couldn't tell until you hit your first putt way past the hole. I did the same push right on hole 18, just not as long. Score 90 arrrgh

Today it is even warmer, a little more wind. I was much more comfortable in my attire. I changed my 907D1 10.5* R-flex for my 907D2 9.5* S-flex and the pushes are gone, I did manage to pull off 1 hook, hole 13 one of my favorites(sarcasm).  It wasn't that bad, barely in the woods even had a shot out. All my other drives with driver were good.  I managed a 9 on the easiest hole on the course.

I did hit a lot of really good shots today, but throw in a bad shot and I fall apart.

Score today 94, probably need to see a shrink for depression, get some happy pills.

On the good side, both yesterday and today, I had 1 bunker shot each day, and both were successful.

Before I say this I have knocked on wood, this is the first year I haven't been having big problems with driver, this is also the first beginning of the year(and thru the winter) I have used Titleist driver. Coincidence?

Have a friend coming tomorrow, hope I can play respectably.

wow you are luck. i cant wait till i can start playing in about 2 months. LUCKY!!

The desire to play respectably was a failure, the desire to play better than the day before instead of worse was also a failure.

The conditions have improved each day, and the play has declined each day. At least the putting improved today, they mowed the greens, major difference. So for this week I went 87,90,94,97, I guess next will be 101.

Of course today I got off at 7am and started playing at 10am, I usually don't pay attention to scores while on midnights(but this was just the first midnight shift).

    I'm usually not in the sand, but today 4 times, priority #1 4/4, priority #2 3/4, priority #3 2/4, 50% ain't bad.

I think part of the problem is because I had switched out my irons, back to blades with R flex shafts, worked good while the weather was colder, but I think I need to put my 962's S flex back in the bag now. I guess I'll have to change grips and put the sensicore in the shafts this weekend.

I gave up on trying to find a 906f2 5 wood for a reasonable price, people on ebay are all over the 5 woods, who says 5 woods aren't popular. So I got a no name 4 and 7, working pretty good.

Next week is in the 40's, warm enough.

I got out Friday at the Pines in Elizabeth City NC, I did not score well, even for me and I am bad, but I had fun.  I got one birdie, and hit some nice shots to offset the bad ones, and I even got one wedge shot to back up on the green.  I have never gotten enough back spin to move the ball back.  It left me a longer putt but thats OK, just to see the ball spin back for the 1st time was great.  Need more time at the range, but it was a very nice day.

I have got out 5 days in a row now, it has been great. Swing the club feels so nice, even if I dont hit every shot great at this point

    Great Rory

Its best to remember the good shots, I'm just not doing that right now, I have had a few.

Don't worry too much about backing the ball up, just stopping it is plenty.

Practice green and range time will do wonders. My range is closed, but I do hit the practice green.

Got out in our 70 deg weather all weekend.  Shot a pair of twin 76's.  Could not get a putt to fall. 2 birdies in 36 holes does not make for low scores.   But I did get out and play.  The new ProV1X's are very nice in the wind we are having right now.

    Nice playin T.

I just got back, 60's windy. Thought about my problems last night, during the winter I went to a strong grip, easier to swing with lots of clothes. But I'm a weak grip player. So when the clothes started coming off I was trying to swing one way but gripping for another.

Got off this morning, hung around the house for awhile, it was windier this morning than when I went out. Shot 73, -1 front +2 back, had birdies on 4 par 3 pitched in from 10 yards off the green, 5 par 5 fairway green 1 putt, 18 par 5 reached in 2, 2 putt. Bogeyed 9, 12, 14, 16, 12/16 par 3's

I hit extra balls, always played the first, but I learned I can't control a fade or draw right now, it will take some work. Just hit straight, maybe push a little, pull a little, tail off one way or another, no problem.

    Tested a 4 wood against my 904F 19*, 904 wins easily.

Didn't put my 962's back in the bag yet, I didn't get to changing the grips and putting sensicore in the shaft yesterday, supposed to be cold tomorrow, I get to it then.
