My golf buddy and I will be playing TPC Sawgrass on Monday for a huge discounted price that I found on golfnow.com ($120!! I know right) Anyway, as most people that I have talked to havent played there in a few years I was wondering if someone had played there recently and could share there story of what to expect. How early to get there, How there round was, any suggestions. How where the caddies, that sort of thing.

I played there multiple times in 2008/2009 (part of a deal when the TPC to which I'm a member was under renovation). The Sawgrass staff does a great job: -the range is great with quality short-game and putting areas -- don't rush your arrival; -caddies are trained to tell good stories, such as where Tour Player X hit such-and-such club from the following spot on a given hole; caddie quality obviously varies with some veterans and some newbies, but all are friendly; -pairings vary widely, but I only had one bad experience (paired with an IT guy employed by the PGA Tour, who was new to golf and deathly slow). My one critique is that the clubhouse restaurant doesn't have much variety, and the steaks are overpriced. The shopping center across the street from the Sawgrass Marriott has a restaurant called the Aqua Grill that serves very good seafood (google it). Enjoy!

I played there about a year and a half ago on a business trip. Everything was outstanding. Even the food was awesome (I was with a member). Mark McCumber was at the table next to us. I would suggest getting one caddie for your group as it was reasonably priced for this option. Our caddie was very personable and knew a lot about the course. He would tell us where to hit off the tee, walk up the fairway and sight our ball down. He would give signals back to you to let you know if you were in good shape or not. By the time we drove up, he had everybodies yardage ready to go.

We got a nice little gift for playing, valuables pouch, bag tag and yardage book. You can get the bag tag engraved for free in the clubhouse. They even gave us a subscription to Golf Digest. I picked up a pretty cool golf towel in the pro shop that has all of the winners on it. I got that framed with my scorecard with some pictures from the round. It makes a nice piece in my sports room. Also picked up a nice polo that was fairly priced, at least I thought so.

The course itself was awesome. It is a real challenge. The biggest difference that I could tell between your everyday courses and that course is that it really penalizes you if you get in bad spots. They have multiple tees based on how far you hit the ball. I played the blended tees. I probably average about 265-275 or so off the tee. I shot an 87 and that included a triple-double-double-double finish on 15-18. I also had a double on #9 and I was 3 over at the point.

I have been trying to get a trip up with my dad to go which hopefully will happen in the next year or so after he fully recovers from heart surgery.

Thanks for sharing guys. I will be headed there in like 3 hours and I am kind of nervous. We will be walking, I got one of my friends to go in on a double caddie that way we can walk like the pros, take pics (but not hold up the round) amd have fun enjoying the course. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Alright were to begin. It was amazing. We got there early to eat in the clubhouse (a must since we always are at the players and cant get in.) Food was delicious and not that expensive. Small menu but healthy choices. Club house was amazing, we kind of felt out of place, but the staff was wonderful and very friendly, they made us feel right at home. My wife came to take pics, so afer eating we checked in and met our caddies. One of my friends and I shared a double caddie so we could walk. It is deffinatly worth the money to walk. So our caddie took us to the range got us some balls and we went to town warming up. He cleaned our clubs stocked our bags with water and we were off. We decided to play from the blended tees, which is a mixture of blues and whites. It normally uses blues but on the long holes it uses whites. plays 72.3/143 6402yds. I shot an 86!!! I was hoping to shoot under a hundred but after paring hole one I knew I could play well. Greens were very fast, but only had 1 three putt, hole 3 hit the green from the tee shot, but wasnt ready for the fast downhill putt, oh well. Missed alot of fairways but my iron shots were steller all day. The other guys had a really hard time out of the rough because it was so bad. The caddie we had was awesome. He took very good care of us. Always had our clubs cleaned, got out our drivers and putters right on cue. Helped with what to aim at, and his yardage was amazing. I disagreed with him a few times and ended up taking his advice and hitting some sweet shots. He helped on the green only if you asked for it, because I guess alot of guys get mad when the caddies help them on the green, but I deffinatly think that he saved me from a few more 3 putts. My wife walked the front 9 and took alot of picks but could not stay all day because of our dog. It was really fun to hae her walk, she was like my own little gallery, lol. We recieved complimentary metal engraved bag tags that were awesome. I would deffinatly recommend anyone to play there. The whole staff was very understanding that this was a big day for us and made sure that it was the best it could be. I guess here are my stats of the round. Hole 1 par 4 394yds par Hole 2 par 5 507yds bogey Hole 3 par 3 160yds bogey Hole 4 par 4 359yds double bogey, only on in the fairway and I chunked my shot in the water Hole 5 par 4 422yds bogey Hole 6 par 4 360yds par Hole 7 par 4 382yds bogey Hole 8 par 3 168yds bogey, played almost 198 because of the wind to the face Hole 9 par 5 522yds par, awesome hole, I actually drove through the fairway I had such a good drive Hole 10 par 4 388yds bogey, hit a tree and drive only went about 70 yards, still made bogey Hole 11 par 5 469yds bogey Hole 12 par 4 332yds par Hoel 13 par 3 156yds double bogey, skulled out of a sandtrap and into the water, dumb Hole 14 par 4 377yds bogey, best bogey save ever Hole 15 par 4 366yds bogey Hole 16 par 5 486yds par Hole 17 par 3 (played from the tips 140yds) PAR!!!! on in 1, 2 putt, best par ever Hole 18 par 4 426yds bogey Overall I think I plyed very well. Alot of those bogeys were very close to becomming pars, so I dont feel that bad. Given the opportunity to play there again, i think I could better that score. It was an amazing day, one that I will probably never forget. I was actually kind of sad on the 18th tee box because the round was comming to an end. Not alot of courses that I play down here in southern GA and northeren FL will compare to the experience that I just had yesterday. I want to give a shout out to titliest. Without your excellent equipment I would not have had the chance to shoot such a low score. My equipment performed excellently and my AP1's were unmatched out there. They deffinalty played the most ctritcal role in my low score. Love you guys. If anyone has any question let me know. I could keep rambling but this is already long enough.
