The modest golf flag insignia emblazoned on the contemporary arrival gate does a poor job of hiding what’s behind it—an invite-only golf paradise tucked away in the southern pines of North Carolina.

The Dormie Club in West End, NC, is an extraordinary place. And thanks to longtime Team Titleist ambassador, Wade Whitehead, avid Titleist fans got the invite to enjoy one of the best experiences in golf. Dormie essentially has three things: absurdly lavish accommodations (we’re talking personal steam-room showers), endless bounties of delicious food, and a very, very good golf course.

    1. Accommodations

The Dormie Network, as the name suggests, is a network of premium properties peppered throughout the union that are designed for destination golf. Clusters of cottages hold 4-8 master suites with all the luxuries a golfer could ask for. Did I mention some showers double as a steam room? Like many of its peers, Dormie features and Owner’s Cottage with indoor and outdoor TVs and fireplaces, a very wet wet bar, billiards, card table, and a massive simulator to boot.

    2. Food

Please excuse any typos in this post as even my fingers gained some weight after the relentless breakfast, lunch, and dinners spreads and countless comfort station visits. Guests enjoyed bacon, French toast, fried chicken sandwiches, candy bars, steak, fried chicken, eggs, bacon, croissants, burgers, pecan pie, bacon, green bean, smashed potatoes, cornbread, brisket, pulled pork sandwiches, bacon sandwiches, carrot, cake—you get the idea. And, as the golf course, it was all very, very good.

    3. Golf

Mr. Coore and Mr. Crenshaw unearthed an extraordinary golf course from the southern pines of central North Carolina. The course constantly feels enormous. Even the 115-yard par-3 12th feels like it’s in a world of its own. Big tee shots, substantial contours, and massive greens all add up to ginormous fun. You also never had to wonder why you were enjoying the course so much as our hosting member is also a respected golf-course-rating panelist who joyfully highlights all the nuances of the course that make it so special.

Mr. Whitehead is a world-class host and we have developed a strong crew of Team Titleist members who make this annual Dormie Network pilgrimage. The Team Titleist tee gift is as good as any and we give out loads of premium prizes which was headlined by raffling off replicas of Windham Clark’s US Open-winning Titleist golf clubs and staff bag.

A massive thank you to Wade, the Dormie staff, and all the Team Titleist members who have made this annual Dormie Network trip one of the best events on the Team Titleist Event Calendar. We are already finalizing next year’s Dormie event and hope to share that soon. If you want to experience the best golf has to offer, sign up as a single or with your golf buddy(ies) and don’t look back. I guarantee it will be one of the best golf trips of your life.

There’s a Dormie Network course n San Antonio. Briggs Ranch is a great layout and a real test of golf. Maybe that’ll be his next stop.

This was my second Dormie adventure. It is difficult to decide if these or the annual Team Titleist Invitationals are better. Each has its high points, but especially interacting with fellow TT enthusiasts. Dormie events, as Alan noted, have fantastic accommodations, excellent meals and snacks, and one of the most gracious hosts you can imagine. Looking forward to next year’s event. Though my game is aging fast, the experiences and interactions with golfers from around the country mark both these events as exceptional.

Saw the picture of the 3 wood cover and thought that I'd throw mine on here. I got the "this ain't 7" cover. Looking forward to seeing the announcement for next year's. May have to make this an annual attendance priority. I like that it was much easier to interact with everyone since it is a smaller group.

Thanks for the great writeup, Allan!

Working on plans for 2025 and hope to have a few more details available later this summer.

I appreciate everyone who made it to Dormie and look forward to the next one,
