Firstly thank you so much Will and everyone at Team Titleist for making this happen. It Was a fantastic opportunity so thanks again.
So if you wasn’t aware, Foxhills Golf course is based in Surrey very close to Sunningdale Village.
If you have never been to the area you really are spoiled for choice when it comes to Golf courses, Sunningdale, Sunningdale health, foxhills, Wentworth, Queenswood & Walton Health to name just a few.
I decided to book a AirBnb 5/10 minutes drive to the golf course and got easy access from Sunningdale train station.
The kind taxi driver who kindly took me to the course had explained the course across the road Queenswood is pretty much as close as we would get to Augusta in the UK, never seeing it I wouldn’t know but I do know it’s a invite only golf course and just from the entrance it looked like a very special place indeed.
So only a minute down the road we arrived at Foxhills GC, and by the size of the gates at the entrance I knew this was going to be a very special location to play golf.
After the 3 min drive up the drive way we was welcomed by staff directing us to the Pro Am parking area and registration area for us to sign in, we was welcome by 2 very lovely young lady’s who gave us are passes for the day and was informed of which hole we would start, which was a shotgun start on the day.
At this point we didn’t know who are pro was so we started to have a look around the complex, but certain areas were VIP or Tour Pros which was cool as it was mainly just the locker room and restaurant area out of us.
So my self and the 2 other lucky lads decided to use the range and chipping area and putting greens.
At this point I’d was pretty much rubbing shoulders with the pros, I started of on the putting green and took a few steps were I was dropping balls next to Richard Bland and Andy Sullivan and kind of said to myself… Just follow suit and make some putts.
I decided to introduce my self to Andy as he was playing a Full bag of Titleist and had mentioned to him how we was here to his delight he just said embrace it and have a cracking day and asked who we was playing with, we said we don’t know so he pulled his phone out and said your playing with a LIV player.. we was like cool who is it we said he replied Lahiri ! BUZZING!
he kindly introduced us to him and had a brief chat before heading our own ways to the driving range.
Unfortunately it was small and fitted around 10 players at a time so there was a little que. we got onto the range were we was given buckets of balls of are choice, PRO V PRO V1X etc, stepped onto the range to be put next to Titleist staffer Wade Ormsby who was so kind and generous with his time also and allowed us to take photos etc.
Walking up to the 12 tee past the 18th tee box we bumped into PGA TOUR & Professional Michael Block, no as cool as he might seem on the tele his just the same off it, we had such a laugh with him for 10 mins talking about the hole in one at the PGA CHAMPIONSHIP and plying with RORY and his friends from the GOOD GOOD YouTube videos.
We got to the 12th were are Pro & Caddie was waiting and made us feel welcome and at ease, he had said he loved these days as loved to give something back to the game of golf which was refreshing to hear.
Though-out the round he was such a nice guy, his caddie Tim was a real blast and helped us read putts and spoke about the details they go into when preparing for tournament events and it was such a insight to seeing it on such a detailed level.
We spoke about Bryson and how he is as a person and how his good for the game, to Life on LIV and how it’s allowed him to be more of a family man, spoke about his early days on the EUROPEAN TOUR and how he managed to get a PGA TOUR card into his though process on every shot, even to the point where Tim the caddie was saying everything from 150 yards out there thoughts were to Hole in!!
So after a slowish start he turned the after burnings on and was -6 before we knew it which was helping us as a team for the competition event.
In a nut shell he was just fantastic to be around.
After the round we was given dinner and drinks and was informed off the presentation would be starting soon.
We got a tap on the should to turn around and see it was our Pro Lahiri again saying… you know why I’m here dont ya? We was like no way have we won hahahaha he said close but not out right. So we came 3rd overall on count back and lost to Tom Lewis’s team in second place with a score of -37 and the winners winning on -40 who happened to be Foxhill members !
We came away with a Titleist Duffer bag which was a nice treat along with the freebies from the international series them self so overall we was very happy indeed.
By this time it was shutting down so we all decided that was that and it was time to hit the road.
I just want to express my gratitude to Titleist for allowing me and 2 others to represent them at this event. It truly was a fantastic day and one I won’t forget in a hurry.
Kind regards
