We caught up with Titleist Tour Rep, JJ Van Wezenbeeck to get the story on Cam’s TSi3 driver and the adjustments they’ve made this season:
“Cameron’s previous driver settings provided a slightly closed face and heel-biased weighting to encourage face closure and prevent the occasional blocked shot that resulted from his pronounced inside-to-out swing path. As his swing path neutralized following off-season work with his instructor/dad (David Young – Head Golf Professional at Sleepy Hollow Country Club), that face closure assistance turned Cameron’s miss from a block to a pull. Working with Cameron at Torrey Pines, we went to the new setup with a more open face and shifted the CG closer to the middle to better match Cameron’s more neutral swing path,” Van Wezenbeeck said.
Said Young on his TSi3 driver: “I’ve definitely picked up a mile per hour or two. It spins a little bit less for me and it just keeps the misses straighter. It doesn’t curve as much. I think it’s more rewarding for me when I hit one how I mean to, the shapes come out more how I mean, and it’s just more rewarding in terms of it being a little hotter and just going a little farther.”
