Everyone could use a few more yards off the tee, but as Titleist staff member Ryan Hager shares in this video, many golfers focus on the wrong part of the swing (the downswing) in their search for...distance. In an effort to hit it farther, you too may be trying to swing hard on the way down, which can throw off essentials like tempo, balance, consistency and quality of strike.
Instead, use the resistance band drill that Ryan demonstrates in this video. By stretching the butt end of your driver as far as you can away from the ball, you'll feel the proper load in your backswing. You'll engage the stronger muscles in your core and you'll be able to exert more force on the club without the feeling of swinging hard. The result is faster clubhead speed, faster ball speed and greater distance with your driver.
