My very first round of golf in Scotland of 7 total at Dumbarnie Links June 8, 2024. On a trip to Scotland with 6 of us. Airline lost my clubs 2 days earlier, had to take a cab 3 hours round trip to Edinburgh airport to pickup clubs the morning of my HIO. Arrived at course w 30 minutes to spare before tee time. I said to my caddy after a good drive on #1, “Well, it looks like I am having a lucky day, found my clubs, hit a good first drive for the trip, maybe I’ll get a hole in one!” We got to the par 3 - 14th hole after I had missed a short par putt on 13. I was determined to hit a good shot. We kept the same order we had all day with me teeing off first. I asked my caddy the yardage and he told me it was 165 and I asked for a 6-iron. There was about a 30 mph wind from left to right and my caddy told me to take a line along the left edge of the green. I struck the ball and it hit on left front of fringe, bounced right and rolled 30 ft into the hole! Threw my hat and glasses up and we all screamed and gave high fives and hugs! Drinks and dinner were on me!
