Happy Friday all! I will be paying homage to St Andrew's golf courses in September this year but will be in Dublin, Ireland prior. Does anyone have any recommendations for public courses near Dublin?

I think my favorite was the old Portmarnock Golf Club. Portmarnock Links is a newer track and not bad but lacks the history of the old course. County Louth Golf Course was also a great track. I was scheduled to play The Island Golf Club too but a mix up in the itinerary messed that up. It looks great and I wish I had been able to play it too.
  3. I agree with Dale, Portmarnock golf club is a real test. The clubhouse looks like it’s cut out of mahogany. A Guinness doesn’t taste any better than in the upstairs bar after your walk at Portmarnock.

But the newer Portmarnock links is a real good course, nice accommodation as well.

Not to far from the airport and a short taxi drive into temple bar area.

Royal Dublin Golf Club is a good track as well. It’s on an island in the bay. True links layout with a fun 18th hole.

    Portmarnock is great too.
