Alignment Stick Drills for Aim

If you're serious about golf, odds are good that your golf bag will include a set of alignment sticks. But how often do you put these training aids to good use? Are they practice tools or just fashion accessories? In this video, Titleist staff member John Kostis shows how alignment rods can help with the essential fundamentals of aim and alignment.

How important is it to work on these seemingly simple details? It's crucial - and for a very good reason. Golf is played standing to the
... side of the ball. You're bent forward, about 35° at the waist, turning your tilted head sideways to look down-range at the target. This is completely unnatural for human beings. Our two eyes, positioned in the front of our heads are designed for binocular vision. We see best when we're upright, our eyes level with the horizon, square to the object we're viewing. In golf posture, all of these variables are off, and our perspective is skewed and unreliable.

Alignment sticks are a foolproof reference that will help you set up to your target, with your body properly aligned and your clubface aimed squarely. Give John's drills a try and start practicing with purpose. The game is much more fun when you're confident in your aim and you can swing freely.
