Titleist Tips | Golf Lob Shot: Maximum Air Time, Minimum Ground Time

1 min
Added on March 19, 2021
In this video Titleist Staff Member Skip Guss, owner of GolfRite in Southborough, Massachusetts, explains that there's much more to the short game than executing a given shot. In Skip's approach, execution is just one step among five in a greater process that is guided by five key words:
  • Analyze
  • Plan
  • Commit
  • Execute
  • Review
Most amateurs jump right to the execution phase when they play a short wedge shot, but dedicating yourself
... to all five disciplines is the key to real improvement.

In this final segment of his three-part series, Skip demonstrates the lob shot, a wedge shot that flies very high, lands softly and rolls very little once it hits the green. Use Skip's keys to visualize the trajectory of this stock short game shot and see how focusing on "UP" in your through swing will help you to hit a high soft lob shot when you have to carry an obstacle or have very little green to work with.
