Blade Iron

A blade iron, also commonly referred to as a muscleback iron or MB iron, is a traditional golf club typically forged from a single solid piece of soft carbon steel. These irons feature a compact head shape with a thinner sole and topline compared to cast, cavity back irons. The majority of the clubhead’s mass is concentrated across the lower half, allowing for greater control and feel through the swing.

Blade irons are favored by skilled ball strikers due to their exceptional workability, making it easier to shape shots and precisely control trajectory. This type of iron rewards precision but offers minimal forgiveness on off-center hits, which is why blade-style irons are best suited for experienced players who value feedback and shapability over ease of use.
