Hybrid

A hybrid is a versatile golf club that combines the best features of long irons and fairway metals. Hybrids are designed to offer the accuracy and control of an iron, with the speed and distance of a fairway metal. Hybrids tend to be more forgiving than long irons more consistent than metals and many players find them easier to hit from tight fairway lies as well as thicker lies in the rough.

Hybrids are typically designed with a compact clubhead, a broad sole and a low center of gravity.  Together, these features promote high launch angle, long carry distance, and greater forgiveness. In club fitting, they are often useful choices to bridge yardage gaps between a player's irons and driver/fairway metals.
